Five short sections on how the catalog is funded, how entries are evaluated, and where the editorial line runs — updated when policy changes.

01
Affiliate links
The Quiet Catalog runs on affiliate commissions from a small set of publisher networks — currently Impact, LinkHaitao, Partnermatic, and Sovrn Commerce as a fallback. When a linked purchase produces a commission, the tag rel="sponsored" is applied to the link in the page HTML, and disclosure appears at the top and bottom of the entry.
The presence of an affiliate program does not affect whether a product enters the catalog. Brands whose programs offered favorable terms have been declined coverage when the product did not clear the twelve-month evaluation window. This is on the record.
02
How entries are evaluated
No launch-day reviews. An entry enters the catalog only after twelve months of first-person use — through seasons, through wash cycles, through the point at which material fatigue would show. When a piece is too new to meet that bar, it does not appear here, regardless of who is offering to send samples.
Prices, sizes, and availability are re-checked quarterly. When a cataloged product is discontinued or materially changed, the entry receives a dated update note at the top and the change appears in the version history.
03
Samples & product loans
Samples are accepted under three conditions: (1) full editorial discretion is retained over whether the item is cataloged and how it is described; (2) the loan is disclosed in the entry; (3) samples above a retail threshold are returned or donated after the review window. Paid placements and sponsored content presented as editorial are refused categorically.
04
Corrections
Factual corrections take priority. Write to [email protected]. Substantive corrections are dated at the top of the affected entry with a short note on what changed.
05
Use of large-language models
Large-language-model tooling assists with research, outlining, and copy-editing. Every entry is reviewed and revised by the named editor before it is filed. LLM output is not published as fact without human verification, and it is never used to fabricate a first-person account of use.
